Biography
I graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2002 with a BSc in Psychology. I went on to complete a Ph.D. at Birmingham that examined the effects of conditioning to psychostimulant drugs. I have been employed as a Research Associate in the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Bristol since April 2007.
My research interests are in the effects of social drugs and drug-related stimuli, and the psychological and biological factors that underlie addiction and continued drug use. More specifically, my current research examines the effects of acute alcohol consumption on the processing of facial cues of emotional expression. In addition, I am interested in individual differences in response to smoking and smoking-related stimuli, and the factors that may differentially influence relapse smokers attempting to quit. I am currently also investigating the effects of a carbon dioxide challenge on the stress response in current cigarette smokers.
