James Bell

James Bell has worked as a consultant in Addiction Medicine in the UK and Australia. He developed training for doctors in Addiction medicine, and was a leading figure in establishing the Chapter of Addiction Medicine and having Addiction Medicine recognised as a speciality in Australia. His major research interest is the treatment of opioid dependence – both heroin addiction and dependence on prescribed opioids in the setting of chronic pain. He is currently leading a project exploring the feasibility of treatment with injectable hydromorphone in Australia.
