Biography

Dr Blessing Marandure attended the University of Birmingham where she attained both her BSc and PhD in Psychology. Her PhD thesis aimed to integrate resilience processes in the study of cannabis, alcohol and mental health in adolescents. Dr Marandure is currently working as a lecturer in Psychology at DeMontfort University. Her current research interests are in resilience processes underlying substance use, and how these subsequently affect behaviour change and wellbeing. She is also interested in further elucidating factors that influence change in cannabis and alcohol use patterns in young people. Dr Marandure is also interested in the development of prevention and early intervention strategies aimed at reducing substance use and improving wellbeing and resilience in young people. In the future, Dr Marandure plans to assess resilience and substance use processes in non Western cultures, in order to diversify the knowledge base surrounding these issues.
