Dr Cornford has worked as a principal in General Practice since 1986 in Middlesbrough. He is currently the lead GP in the Fulcrum Medical Practice, a specialist general practice providing treatment services for drug and alcohol addiction.
He has previously worked as a senior lecturer in general practice and primary care at Durham University, and his research has mainly concerned with the meanings patients hold about illness experience. He has used a combination of research methods, though predominately qualitative. He is currently working on a number of studies related to addiction including end of life issues for patients with alcohol related liver disease, DVTs and contingency management.
