Biography
Debra Kaminer (PhD) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Her current research focuses on the prevalence, impact and treatment of multiple and continuous trauma exposure among youth and young adults. In several international collaborations, she has explored the predictive relationship between adverse childhood experiences, mental health and substance use, including the mediating role of coping motives. Her future research plans are oriented towards exploring brief term interventions to address the mediating factors linking childhood trauma exposure to adolescent substance use.
