Biography

I am a Specialty Trainee 6 in General Adult Psychiatry in the St George’s higher specialist training Scheme for General Adult Psychiatry. I did my basic specialist training in the Royal Free Training Scheme, London.

I am interested in the areas of substance use and mental health law.

I gained a year’s experience in Substance Use with the Drug and Alcohol services, Windmill Team in the Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, as part of higher specialist training. This experience included in-patient detoxification for substance dependence and community clinics with significant exposure to dual diagnosis and multi-agency collaboration.

I am interested in the areas of prescription benzodiazepines in primary care and secondary care, use of legal highs and the role of illicit substances in presentations under the mental health act. In particular I aim to understand the primary care practices with a view to encouraging effective and responsible use of benzodiazepines in primary care.
