Research Area: Addiction Psychiatrist

Consultant Psychiatrist in the Addictions at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) and visiting Senior Lecturer at the National Addiction Centre, King’s College London.

Jane works in two specialist services: NHS Practitioner Health (PH), a dedicated service for doctors and dentists with mental health and addiction problems; and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) where she is a Consultant Advisor working in a regulatory capacity. She maintains an active teaching portfolio.

Jane is a former trustee of the SSA. She is on the executive of the Addictions Faculty at the Royal College of Psychiatrists and has been a member of several expert working groups, including the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guideline on Co-existing Severe Mental Illness and Substance Misuse (NG 58) (2016). Roles at the Royal College of Psychiatrists include being Co-Director of Flexible Training (2003-2011); Clinical Lead for the Health for Health Professionals workstream (2009-2013) and a founder member of the Psychiatrists Support Service (2006 – present).

Jane is a member of the Secretary of State for Transport’s Honorary Medical Advisory Panel on Alcohol, Drugs and Substance Misuse with the DVLA. She is a Health Examiner for the GMC and Clinical Advisor to the Dentists’ Health Support Trust.
