Biography
Peter McCarron is an addiction psychiatrist, working in liaison and dual diagnosis settings in Dublin, Ireland. He is interested in temporal changes in illicit substance use and investigating factors related to these changes. Prior to training in psychiatry, he worked in academic public health and epidemiology with a focus on early life factors in chronic disease aetiology. Previously he had made the very astute decision to not work in infectious disease epidemiology as there were obviously going to be limited research and job opportunities in that field! In an attempt to improve his understanding of statistics he recently completed a degree in Greek and Latin. It didn’t work but at least he now knows what “psychiatrist” means.
