Miss Rebecca Lefroy
Biography
I am currently a 4th year medical student at the University of Manchester finishing a month long psychiatric placement. My interest in addiction started during a project at the beginning of this year where I spent a month on a community placement working with the doctors and drug workers. This was my first real exposure to addiction medicine and has been a branch of medicine that has interested me since. My psychiatric placement has also opened my eyes to the prevalence of mental health in healthcare and introduced me to the wider range of psychiatric illness, not just addiction.
I am currently focussing on my studies and preparing for foundation placements, aiming to make myself a well rounded junior doctor. I am hoping to be able to stay in Manchester for the foreseeable future due to the wide range of opportunities the city has to offer. My current career aspirations are somewhat unclear but recent placements have triggered an interest in surgery and interventional medicine.
