Peter Kelly has been a mental health nurse for almost two decades, and during this time has worked as nurse practitioner in NHS addiction services. He is currently a lecturer (p/t) at Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland. He is undertaking his PhD studies at the School of Nursing and Midwifery at University College Cork. Peter was a founding member and is the current president of the Ireland Chapter of the International Nurses Society on Addictions. This group are currently represented on the Irish national committee responsible for the implementation of the new Irish national drugs strategy. Peter’s PhD study is examining the relationship between organisational dynamics and (i) client engagement (ii) the process of innovation adoption, in community addiction treatment services. Peter has published two papers relating to ORC to date, and wishes to continue to increase the understanding of how organisational and workforce factors can influence effective treatment delivery.
