Ms Jodi Goss

Senior Recovery Nurse

Biography

Qualified as an RGN in 1993 from University College Hospital, London, Jodi Goss specialised in Haematology. Jodi has worked for the Drug and Alcohol Recovery Team in Mersey Care NHS Trust as a Senior Recovery Nurse for the past ten years and has pioneered a number of initiatives.

In 2013, Jodi won a Healthcare Bursary to develop sexual health services for clients and completed a course in Advances in Contraception and Sexual Health at John Moores University.

In 2014, Jodi started working in collaboration with Jayne Wilkie, Community Hepatitis Nurse from Brownlow Group Practice, a busy Liverpool city centre practice, due to lack of funding to test for the Hepatitis C virus in the drug services. They initially completed a Hepatitis C antibody mouth swab pilot in April 2015, which identified a significant number of new Hepatitis C clients. Following this, Commissioners agreed for new BBV Screening Clinics in two community drug teams across the city.

Alongside this clinical initiative, Jodi organised for ten Band 3 and Band 4 Merseycare staff to become BBV Champions as part of a National Training Programme.

Jodi has been nominated for a Positive Achievement Award in Merseycare NHS Trust for her work in developing this new service.
