Professor
Simon Coulton is Professor of Health Service Research and Director of the Centre for Health Service Studies at the University of Kent. Originally trained as a psychologist he specialises in the design, conduct and analysis of pragmatic randomised controlled trials of interventions for alcohol users. He has played an important role in a number of major UK research studies including the United Kingdom Alcohol Treatment Trial (UKATT), Screening and brief intervention pilots in primary care, emergency departments and criminal justice settings (SIPS) and screening and stepped care interventions for older alcohol users in primary care (AESOPS). He is currently working with collaborators to develop a portfolio of studies evaluating interventions for adolescent alcohol users.
