The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) is one of the 27 institutes and centres that comprise the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the US. NIAAA supports and conducts research on the impact of alcohol use on human health and well-being. As the lead agency for U.S. research on alcohol use disorder (AUD), and other health and developmental effects of alcohol use its mission is to support research, and then translate and disseminate research findings to reduce alcohol-related problems.
