James Bell is a consultant in Addictions at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. He completed training in Internal Medicine in Australia, then worked in Addiction Medicine. He developed training for doctors in Addiction medicine, and was a leading figure in establishing the Chapter of Addiction Medicine within the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. His major research interest is the treatment of opioid dependence – both heroin addiction and dependence on prescribed opioids in the setting of chronic pain.
